Elegant Dining Room
A career and several children leaves no time for this young couple to decorate their home. This is the story of how a dining room with cast-off furniture from college days was transformed into an elegant, transitional dining room.
Kim and Brent moved into their home after finishing medical school. Starting in a new career with three young children, along with moving to a new town, was not only challenging but left the furnishing of their home at the lowest of their priorities. Once settled and somewhat established, they decided to begin the process of furnishing and decorating their home but did not have any idea where to start. Professional help was not only desired but needed due to their busy schedules and the over-whelming job of starting with a completely blank slate.
The couple chose the dining room as their first room because the front door opens onto an entry and the dining room. The only requirement when selecting the decor was to use blue in the room and to help the couple get outside their very traditional “box”. We began the process by helping them select a transitional, hand-tufted indigo blue rug as the base for the room. The choice of the elegant and sophisticated look of the dining table, and buffet made of walnut veneers with rose gold hardware, further added to the luxurious, transitional room. The classic details of the upholstered chairs and the subtle sophistication of the brushed antique brass chandelier reflected the understated and approachable feeling of this wonderful couple. The result was an elegant, modern beginning to this beautiful home.
